Cherry Almond Slice

Mix together and bake 10 min.-

1 1/2 cups flour

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/4 tsp. salt

In bowl-

beat 2 eggs

add remaining ingredients –

1 1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. almond extract

1 cup coconut

1 cup cherry halves – drained

2 Tbsp. flour

1/2 tsp. baking powder

Pour over partly baked shortbread. then place 1/2 cup of peeled and blanched almonds on top. Bake 25 minutes in 350* oven until nicely browned.

Cool and ice with almond flavoring in icing sugar to which 2 Tbsp. maraschino cherry juice has been added.
