1 cup white sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup shortening

2 eggs – well beaten

3 1/4 cup flour

2 tsp. cream of tartar

2 tsp. soda

1 tsp. vanilla

1 tsp. lemon juice

1 cup raisins

1/2 cup nuts

Cream sugar and shortening. add eggs. Sift dry ingredients and add to batter. Add flavorings, raisins and nuts. Shape into small balls and place on cookie sheet and press flat with fork. Also, good with coconut in place of raisins or chocolate chips.
