Jumbo Raisin Cookies

2 cups raisins

1 cup water

Boil 5 minutes and set aside to cool

Cream:

1 cup shortening

2 cups sugar

3 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

add cooled mixture – juice and all.

Sift together:

4 cups flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. soda

2 tsp. salt

1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

1/4 tsp. nutmeg

1/4 tsp. all-spice

Add to raisin mixture. Add 1 cup chopped nuts if desired. Mix well and drop by teaspoon full. Bake at 375* for 12 – 15 minutes
