Congo Squares

2/3 cup shortening

1/2 cup butter or margarine

1 lb. box brown sugar

3 eggs

2 3/4 cups flour

2 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

1 pkg. chocolate chips

1 tsp. vanilla

1 cup chopped nuts

Melt shortening, add brown sugar, cool slightly; add eggs, one a time, beating well. Add remaining ingredients. Sift dry ones together. Pour into well greased pan 10×15 inches.  375* for 25 minutes.
