Preheat oven to 325*
Cream 1/2 cup shortening, add 1 cup sugar, beat until light and fluffy. Blend in 2 beaten eggs; then add 2 Tbsp. cocoa, and 1/2 tsp. vanilla.
Blend or sift together, 1 cup flour, 1/4 tsp. salt and add to creamed mixture; combine well. Blend in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts.
Spread batter into greased 8″ square pan. Bake 25-30 minutes.
