Almond Crecents

1 cup soft butter or margarine

1/3 cup white sugar

1 2/3 cup sifted flour

1/4 tsp. salt (optional)

2/3 cup ground almonds (1 pkg. makes 2 batches )

1/2 tsp. almond flavoring

Method:

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add flour, salt, almonds, and flavoring. Knead like shortbread.

Divide dough into 2 or 3 parts and roll each into lengths 3/4 inch in diameter. Cut in 1 inch lengths and press ends around into crescents.

Bake 15 minutes in 325* oven (may take a little longer). Roll in sugar while still warm.

If you prefer, grind the almonds yourself and leave the skins on,.
