Oven Baked Doughnuts

1 1/2 cup milk

1/3 cup shortening

1/2 cup sugar

1 1/2 tsp. salt

2 pkg. yeast

2 tsp. nutmeg

1/4 tsp. cinnamon

4 3/4 cups flour

2 large eggs

1/4 cup warm water

 

Boil milk; stir in shortening, sugar, salt, and spices. Cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast in water, add with the flour and eggs to the milk mixture. Beat well. Cover and let rise until double. Turn out onto floured board; form soft ball. Roll until 1/2 inch thick and cut out with 3″ cutter. Place on greased baking sheet 2″ apart. Brush with melted butter, let rise until double. Bake at 425* for 8-10 minutes. Brush with melted butter again and roll in sugar.
