Grandma’s Gingerbread

2 1/2 cups Flour

1 tsp. Salt

2 tsp. Baking Powder

1/2 tsp. Baking Soda

1 tsp. Ginger

2 tsp. Cinnamon

1/2 tsp. Ground Cloves

1/2 cup Shortening

1/2 cup Sugar

1 cup Mollasses

2 Eggs

1 cup hot Water

 

Sift together firs seven ingredients; set aside. Cream together shortening and sugar; blend in molasses. Stir in 1/2 cup of flour mixture. Beat in Eggs. Add hot water alternately  with remaining flour mixture. Turn into greased and paper line (parchment) 9″ square pan. Bake at 350* for 40 minutes.

Yield 9-12 Servings
