Gingerbread

1 1/2 cup sugar

3/4 cup shortening

2 1/4 tsp. soda

1 1/2 cup molasses

3/4 tsp. ginger

3/4 tsp. cloves

1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

2 eggs

3 3/4 cups flour

3/4 tsp. salt

1 1/2 cups hot water

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, add molasses. Measure and sift dry ingredients. Add to mixture. Add hot water. Bake in oven 350-375*
