Bran Muffins

1/4 cup shortening

1/2 cup brown sugar – firmly packed

1/1 cup mollasses

2 eggs, unbeaten

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. baking soda

3/4 tsp. salt

1 1/2 cup bran (Quaker)

1 cup milk

1/2 cup raisins (optional)

 

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add molasses and eggs, and beat together well; add milk and bran. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together. Add raisins if desired. Place in greased muffin tins. Bake in hot oven 400*-425* for 15-20 minutes.
