A walk down Memory Lane

A few weeks back my dad, husband and I were looking at several tables lined with items from my paternal grandparents lives. A few days before, I was looking in a shed of my maternal grandparents things. In the middle of all that, my biological sister arrived with items from our Paternal grandmother’s life.

One thing hit me pretty hard. I had nothing to really show my grandchildren of my own life. Sure I had trinkets and baubles but I had very few real memento’s. This is, in a way, kind of  a painful realization. So… I must get busy and start creating a quilt of memories for my family to “inherit” when I am gone. Not necessarily stuff to clutter their own lives and homes, but things that mean a great deal to me and they will understand the meaning behind when the time comes. For example, grandma’s Bible. To some, her Bible may just mean a book, history, or even a good story. To others it means a faith in something that she could not see. A willingness to give her life over to the one who created her and to be willing to give up her own desires for that of her Lord. To some, including me, that Bible would mean a great deal and if I owned it, would cherish it forever.

Now onto fun stuff! The Grandma’s have inspired some good ol’ fashioned memory making! Grandma G left behind a plethora of recipes that she had collected to create a gift recipe book for several new brides. I will post more on that later,  but in my recipes section of this blog, the recipes she collected are featured here. There are many so it will take me awhile to get them all posted. I need you to know, however, that I have NOT tried these recipes so proceed at your own risk and knowledge level when using them. My plan is to feature a few at a time as I do make them.
